ionMy Newsletter - 30th March 2022

Hi,

March is the month we celebrate the contributions and show our appreciation to the work and efforts of all women that create a better environment for the care sector.

The care industry has always been heavily female-dominated, with data indicating that 83.3% of the 'aged care residential services' workforce is female.

So it’s important that we reinforce our respect and admiration, not only this month but throughout the year, to all women involved in caring for our communities.

CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

To mark this special day and support the movement for equality, we celebrate the work of some outstanding female leaders in the care industry who ionMy has the honour to support through our solution.

Enjoy the read!

 WELCOME ON BOARD

We happily welcome a new client to the ionMy family! Huon Regional Care, from Huon Valley in Tasmania, has been in the care industry for over 50 years and now will start the implementation of the ionMy solution.

Huon Regional Care has evolved into one of Southern Tasmania’s most well respected aged care facilities, caring for clients in three locations, Franklin, Dover and Nubeena. Employing over three hundred locals, the organisation has also become a valuable asset to the wider Tasmanian community.

Thank you for trusting us and welcome on board!

ionMy Hot Tips

Straight from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission: "The essential elements of an effective incident management system".

Aged care providers have a responsibility to provide safe and quality care and services to older Australians.

As part of this responsibility, and as required under Aged Care Quality Standard 8: Organisational governance, all providers must have risk management systems and practices in place for preventing and managing incidents. This includes having an incident management system (IMS).

Recording COVID-19 4th doses:

If your organisation needs to record a 4th shot of COVID-19 vaccination, we suggest adding a new Vaccination type of COVID-19 Booster Shots 2022, which would enable you to record 3 additional boosters for the year (should the government mandate quarterly boosters).

And then in 2023 have a new vaccination type of COVID-19 Booster Shots 2023, which again will allow 3 boosters to be recorded for that year.

In addition to this, in our upcoming v6.3.03 release we will be introducing the ability to record the 4th dose against a vaccination record.

Our client Pathfinders Ltd announced they are one step closer to opening their new Supported Independent Living Facility. The upgraded facility will offer 10 units, a 3-bedroom residence and one fully self-contained unit.

CEO of Pathfinders Alan Brennan and Mark Crompton Senior Manager of Finance agree; “The new facility will bring so much value to our community creating more opportunities for young people to learn how to take care of themselves and to be independent citizens in our community.”

  • Facilities can now apply for volunteers:

The Federal Government has invested $5 million in a new program to re-engage volunteers into aged care homes and make access to volunteers easier for providers.

Volunteers provide non-clinical social and emotional support to residents by offering companionship and assisting with leisure activities. The aged care volunteer program matches volunteers with nominating facilities.

Training and orienteering will be undertaken by Volunteer Australia. Residential facilities will be required to have an onsite volunteer coordinator and volunteer insurance. They will also need to provide PPE and rapid antigen tests.
